L.A. PEOPLE PT. 2 (THE YOUNG AND THE GIFTED):

A tragic figure on the scene, Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys was known for his charisma, love of life and for being nearly irresistible to members of the female species.

Pretty actress Tuesday Weld was well known worldwide, but never achieved the breakout role that would take her career to the next level.

Bryan MacLean of Love was originally born in Beverly Hills and roadied for The Byrds before joining up with Arthur Lee in 1965.  Bryan was an underrated songwriter in his own right.

Christopher Jones was a popular actor, best known for his role as teenage presidential candidate Max Frost in Wild in the Streets.

Of course, Jane Fonda was one of the most recognized actresses of her era, best known for her role in Roger Vadim’s Barbarella.

The beautiful Michelle Phillips of the singing group The Mamas & The Papas was coveted by many celebrity types around town, and had a brief affair with…

Gene Clark, guitarist and singer for The Byrds, who wrote many of their best early songs and went on to a highly rated solo career.

Former beauty contest winner Marilyn McCoo was perhaps the most recognizable member of the great vocal group The 5th Dimension.  Her strong voice anchored many of their hits.

Monkee Peter Tork played “the dumb one” on the T.V. show, but was a sensitive and intellectual soul in real life.  He played host to many musicians in his Laurel Canyon mansion.

Peggy Lipton was the star of T.V.’s “The Mod Squad”, and captivated many a viewer with her beauty.  She later released a solo album on UNi Records.

SWINGING LONDON PT. 2:

A beautiful shot of Twiggy who was, and remains, one of the most iconic fashion models of all time.

Donyale Luna was the first black model to grace the cover of British Vogue.  Sadly she passed away at the young age of 33.

John Entwistle and Keith Moon of The Who epitomized the spirit of Swinging London ‘66, as they staggered from bar to bar in the trendy West End.  John in particular was known to buy most of his clothing at the fine London retailer Harrod’s.

The Beatles, in a series of famous early 1968 photos by the great Richard Avedon.

SWINGING LONDON:

Marianne Faithfull, potentially wearing the same fur she was later arrested in when Keith Richard’s Redlands home was busted for drugs in early 1967.

Two photos of the incredibly gorgeous Pattie Boyd, wife of Beatle George Harrison.

Speaking of The Beatles, here’s Paul McCartney in his groovy “sport coat and ascot” phase, 1967.

A great photo of Brian Jones, once considered the most eligible rock star by most female fans and groupies, before drugs began to take their toll.

German actress/ model Anita Pallenberg dated both Brian Jones and Keith Richards of The Stones.

L.A. PEOPLE:

Beach Boy Brian Wilson hard at work in the studio.

Arthur Lee of Love and Davy Jones of The Monkees could rock love beads better than anyone.

The Buffalo Springfield bought their clothes on the street at hip boutiques in Laurel and Topanga.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience were outfitted by Carnaby Street’s finest tailors.

Sergio Mendes & Brasil ‘66 represented the Fred Siegel of Beverly Hills look very nicely.

By the time of the Magical Mystery Tour shoot, The Beatles were having most of their clothing custom made for them.
